Beverly Lu Nugent, 73, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 24, 2024, at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas with her husband by her side.
Beverly was born February 16, 1951, in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Shirley Ann (Whitcomb) and Jasper Lewis Jones. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1969 and went on to a 25 year career as a general manager for Sprint Telecommunications, retiring in 2006. Beverly married William Kennedy Nugent on August 19, 1989 in Las Vegas.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 35 years, Bill of Las Vegas; one daughter, Mona M. (Mylo) Magness of Galesburg; one sister, Deborah (Bill) Smith; one brother, Richard (Bonnie) Jones; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Beverly is predeceased by her parents; and two sisters, Kathleen Shaw and Yvette Jones.
Beverly was able to travel with her husband on many international business trips to Europe. After his retirement they continued their European and South American travels, which she enjoyed immensely. Beverly loved and developed skill in gourmet cooking and took great pride in maintaining their beautiful landscaping. She had exceptional interior decorating skills and made a beautiful home for her and her husband.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, or the charity of the donor’s choosing in memory of Beverly.
