Hollie Marie Bycroft, 26, of Galesburg, Illinois, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family at 9:19 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024.
A true warrior, Hollie valiantly battled cancer for seven years, demonstrating remarkable courage and resilience that inspired everyone around her. An alumna of Knoxville High School and attended Carl Sandburg College, her spirit and determination were unmatched.
Hollie was born May 18, 1998, in Galesburg, the daughter of Kellie K. (Knox) and Jamie L. Grawey. Hollie married her high school sweetheart, Jordan R. Bycroft on September 26, 2020, in Knoxville, Illinois. Hollie is survived by her husband, Jordan of Galesburg and Hope, her beloved fur baby; mother, Kellie (Tony) Morgan of Knoxville; father, Jamie (Kasey) Grawey of Galesburg; and five sisters, Kelsie Millard of Ottumwa, Iowa, Alisa (Tim) Carlson of Dahinda, Illinois, Victoria Ewing of Abingdon, Illinois, Haleigh Johnson of Reno, Nevada, and Madison Morgan of Galesburg. Hollie is also survived by her maternal grandparents, Tom “Poppy” and Clare Knox of Avon, Illinois; paternal grandmother, Stephany Grawey of Galesburg; paternal grandfather, Jim Grawey of Galesburg; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; along with in-laws. Hollie was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Knox and DeCourcey, great grandfather, James C. Shaw; and great grandmother, Peggy Cehers; and her uncle Tom.
Hollie’s professional life was a reflection of her warmth and friendliness, from being a beloved “Flavor Freeze girl” to greeting customers with her radiant smile as a teller at Tompkins State Bank.
A fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, travel, and fast cars, Hollie lived life to the fullest, savoring every moment with joy and an infectious sense of humor. Her love for food, fun, and the happiness of those around her was as genuine as her heartwarming hugs.
Those fortunate enough to have known Hollie will remember her as a loving, funny, and courageous woman who brought light and laughter to all. Her legacy of love and cheerfulness will forever be cherished and celebrated in the memories she leaves behind.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois.
