A growing business offering salon suites that can be leased by up to 20 tenants in the beauty and wellness field will open early next year in Galesburg.
Jason Cousineau, founder of Davenport, Iowa-based The Suites, tells WGIL The Suites Galesburg is expected to open February 2025 at 732 W. Main St., the former location of Hank’s Power & Equipment.
WGIL reported in March The Suites Galesburg would be located at 1516 N. Henderson St., a space recently occupied by The Mattress Station, and in the same complex as Little Caesars, Smoke Land, and Suzi’s Video Poker & Slots.
The Suites Galesburg moved on from the Henderson Street location, according to Cousineau, when one of the tenants elected to not renew its lease, which would have led to lost revenue.
“We’re excited about the Main Street location because it’s very centrally located just down the road from downtown, and right off of Henderson Street,” Cousineau said.
The Suites will feature 20 salon suites that are approximately 120 to 250 square feet in size, featuring their own plumbing. Tenants can customize suites with their own flooring, paint, lighting, fixtures and furniture, as needed.
Professionals specializing in hair, massage therapy, nails, spray tans, makeup, cosmetologists are potential tenants, according to Cousineau.
All utilities, including wi-fi access, are included in the lease — which starts at $750 a month.
In addition to building out the 20 suites, the building at 732 W. Main St. will soon get a new roof and additional windows.
“There just isn’t another facility like this in the market where we can help local operators reduce their overhead drastically so we can make them more profitable,” Cousineau said. “At the same time, they’l able to provide a high quality atmosphere and environment for their clients.”
Cousineau and his team have The Suites locations in Moline and Davenport, Iowa, and are in the process of developing other locations in Peoria, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Des Moines, Cincinnati and the Twin Cities.
