A Warren County judge has ordered a man from Keokuk, Iowa to remain jailed until trial after he was arrested for a weekend shooting and drugs incident.

Court records indicate a judge made that ruling Tuesday in the case of Ryan O’Neill, 28 — charged with Class X felony counts of Armed Violence and Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, along with other felony counts of Possession of Meth, and Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Felon.

Warren County State’s Attorney Thomas Siegel says a shooting was reported Sunday night around 9 p.m. on 11th Avenue near Third Street, where O’Neill allegedly threatened another man with a handgun inside the car he was driving, when a struggle ensued during a drug deal.

Authorities believe a bullet hole was discovered in the windshield of the car, and a search resulted in the discovery of two bags of meth and a pistol magazine with ammunition.

It’s believed the car was also in an accident before officers arrived, but no one was hurt.

Siegel believes O’Neill’s attorney may contest his client’s detention at a later time.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 10th.
