An eatery on the Knox-Fulton County line that’s well known, especially for its tenderloins, is for sale.
One of the owners of Spoonie’s Bar and Grill in London Mills, Dena Anderson, said on social media she’s long dreamed of just a 40 hour work week, but owning a bar and grill just isn’t that. After 15 years, Anderson says, it’s time to rest and do something, like take a vacation.
“Over the past 15 years we have poured our heart and soul, blood sweat and tears into this Business [sic] and made it what it is today,” said Anderson, in a post on Spoonie’s Facebook page. “We took a small place in the middle of nowhere Illinois and put it on the map !!! You can go almost anywhere in the US and have a conversation with someone and tell them your [sic] from London Mills, Illinois.”
A listing from Canton-based Gorsuch Realty and Auction puts the asking price for Spoonie’s at $250,000.
Anderson says if it doesn’t sell, no problem. It will stay open.
“If it doesn’t sell, we will continue to be here and it will still be ran the same way as we have ran it for the past 15 years,” said the post.
Spoonie’s has been featured on a Facebook page for pork tenderloins, by the Peoria-Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, and “Peoria Local Legends” Magazine, among others.
