Last of three defendants pleads guilty to throwing concrete and antifreeze from overpasses

The last of three young men to be sentenced for throwing concrete and anti-freeze from Knox County overpasses earlier this year pleaded guilty Tuesday.

In exchange for his plea, 19-year-old Grant Oyler received 2 years of second chance probation, 30 hours of community service, and was ordered to pay restitution.

Second chance probation is available for someone who didn’t previously have a criminal record and if completed the conviction is removed from their record.

Oyler pleaded guilty to Theft and Criminal Damage to Property, while he was originally facing more serious charges of vehicular endangerment.

Oyler’s plea and sentence were nearly identical to his co-defendants, 19-year-old Hayden Herschelman and 20-year-old Mason Stone who pleaded earlier this month.

The three in late February were arrested for stealing antifreeze that they then threw along with concrete on to passing cars from overpasses at Interstate 74 and U.S. 34, causing a number of cars to be damaged.
