Pet supply chain closing its Galesburg store. Here’s what we know

A national pet supply chain is closing its store in Galesburg.

Pet Supplies Plus, 2472 Veterans Drive, announced the closing of its Galesburg store via its website on Monday. A banner at the top of the website reads: “Our Pet Supplies Plus Galesburg location is closing it’s doors soon. Online ordering is suspended. Please visit us in-store for markdown deals!”

A manager who answered the phone at the Galesburg store confirmed the closing to WGIL, but referred further inquiries to the corporate office.

The store is located in the same shopping complex as Kohl’s and Shoe Sensation in the Seminary Square Shopping Center that includes Walmart and Menards.

Pet Supplies Plus was founded in 1988 in Redford, Michigan. As of May 2023, there were over 720 stores in 36 states.

According to Petfood Processing, Franchise Group, parent company of Pet Supplies Plus (PSP), recently filed for Chapter 11 with the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
