Pet Supplies Plus says it will close its Galesburg store in mid January.
The national pet supply chain announced via its website earlier this week that it was closing the store at 2472 Veterans Drive, but did originally provide a final day of business.
A company spokesperson confirmed to WGIL today that the Galesburg store is set to close Jan. 18, adding, “but maybe sooner depending on the sale of the majority of the store items.”
According to Petfood Processing, Franchise Group, parent company of Pet Supplies Plus (PSP), recently filed for Chapter 11 with the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
Pet Supplies Plus provided the following statement to WGIL:
Unfortunately, we’ve had to make the tough decision to close a few of our locations. However, we want to assure you that our other branches are still operating normally. We understand that this may be unexpected and inconvenient for you, and we sincerely apologize for any disruptions this may cause.
It’s important to emphasize that these closures pertain only to specific locations and do not indicate any financial difficulties for our company. We want to reassure you that we are not closing our doors, and our dedication to providing exceptional products and services remains unwavering.
We appreciate your understanding during this transition and remain dedicated to providing you with the best possible service.
The store is located in the same shopping complex as Kohl’s and Shoe Sensation in the Seminary Square Shopping Center that includes Walmart and Menards. Customers were greeted with signs saying most items were 25% off as of Wednesday morning.
