More than $1,700,000 in local grants are available to Knox County organizations for funding mental health services, substance abuse services and developmental disabilities services in Knox County.
Application forms are available on the Knox County Board website to apply for Knox County Mental Health (708) Board funding. Local funds, based upon a property tax levy in Knox County, are available to Knox County organizations/agencies/residents, including for profit corporations. The deadline to file an application is Feb. 28, 2025.

The Knox County Mental Health Board was authorized by countywide ballot referendum at the April 2017 election. It was established to meet funding needs of persons/programs that provide treatment(s) for local persons affected by mental health, intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) and substance abuse issues.
Funding is by local property tax. The funding cycle runs from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026. All money is banked and invested by the Knox County Treasurer. All disbursements are made through the Treasurer’s office with review by the County Board.
