Betty A. Shelton, age 90, Galesburg, Illinois, died at 10:04 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025, in Galesburg, Illinois.
She was born on July 15, 1934. in Galesburg, Illinois the daughter of Clarence and Mary Doris (Tingley) Hull. She married Floyd “Clark” Shelton, Jr., on May 4, 1986. in Knoxville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2019.
Surviving are children: Susan (John) Olson of Galesburg, Illinois, Becky Lavely of Galesburg, Illinois, Chris (Pat) Lavely of Peoria, Illinois, and Marsha (Tommy) Dean of Knoxville, Illinois; eleven grandchildren: Cherie Knox, Bradley Taylor, Ben Olson, Tracy Goodwin, Julie Traff, Dustin Simmons, Summer Bayne, Colton Lavely, Nicholas yeast, Avery Dean and Zach Dean: several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her brother Jerry Burns of Largo, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Jim Hull and Mike Burns.
She worked various jobs in the area, including beautician, realtor, waitress and housewife. She enjoyed gambling, playing cards with her family and friends and being the life of the party. She also enjoyed traveling, shopping and doing staining glass projects. She was a member of the Red Hats, TOPS, and a very proud member of AA with over 53 years of sobriety.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be at 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, with Sam N Marsha D-lite playing at the Knoxville American Legion in Knoxville, Illinois.
