I am stronger, wiser, and much better because of knowing you, Mom. Jeanette (Momma, Nette, Jimmy, Beanie) Dilworth Moultrie aged 74 years young was born in Iuka, Mississippi on Wednesday, January 17, 1951, to her loving parents, Mary Louise (Haynes) and Louis Alexander Dilworth. Her family relocated to Carbondale, Illinois when she was a baby.
Later she relocated to Mobile, Alabama where she married her late husband Unree Moultrie. Together they raised three children, Unree, Shaundra and LaToya. Beanie moved to Galesburg, Illinois in 1978 where she spent the remainder of her long life with her childhood love and best friend, Stanley Campbell. Together they share two children Stanley Moultrie and Chariot Campbell. She is survived by her life-partner, 5 children,14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Momma went Home extremely rich in Our Lord; and she passed on Monday January 27, 2025. She lived a noble, good and happy life fulfilled with love and respect, which she so greatly earned and deserves. Jeanette was such a God-fearing Christian woman of the Cloth. She was brave, strong of mind, body and spirit. She remained fair, just, caring and supportive of others, particularly her loved ones, having dedicated her entire life towards putting the needs and welfare of her family before even herself. Jimmy was one of a kind- witty, intelligent, funny, endearing and beautiful inside and out, the perfect person and my favorite person.
She was fond of fishing, gardening, reading, listening to music especially BabyFace and Whitney, and just being with her loved ones. In her words, quoting her favorite Western (Lonesome Dove), “It’s been one helluva party!”
Capturing her essence I end quoting a poem she often recited, “I am the captain of my ship”- Henry David Thoreau. She believed we are in control of our destinies, and she taught me that I can do anything that I believe in if I just try. Thank you, Momma. With love always. Fly high my angel, be free.
Cremation will be accorded. No services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
