Klusman, Marvin ‘Pete’

Marvin “Pete” A. Klusman, age 80, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 10:08 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on January 10, 1945, in Tacoma, Washington the son of Albert and Phyllis (Bagley) Klusman. He attended and graduated from ROVA High School, then he graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1967. He married Susan Kay Selman on August 20, 1966 at the Altona United Methodist Church in Altona, Illinois.

Surviving is his wife, Susan Klusman of Galesburg, Illinois; two daughters: Jill Christine (Todd) Fowlks of Bushnell, Illinois and Valerie Sue (Michael) Gerholdt of Indianapolis, Indiana; four grandchildren: Sarah Hickman of Pearl, Illinois, Maggie Hickman of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Adelaide Gerholdt and Hannah Gerholdt, both of Indianapolis, Indiana; one sister, Janet Bodenhamer of Galesburg, Illinois; sister-in-law, Nelda Klusman of Kansas City, Missouri; brother-in-law, Harold (Janet) Selman of Knoxville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Michael Klusman.

He taught Science at Spoon River Valley Jr. High for 37 years and built homes in the area for 55 years. He enjoyed traveling, mushroom hunting, fossil hunting and building bird houses from old barn wood. He tried to visit all of the National Parks in the United States. 

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, with a memorial service at 4 p.m. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Knoxville, Illinois. Inturnment will be at a later date.
