Why Goodwill is closing its Kewanee store in March

Goodwill

Goodwill of Central Illinois will close its Kewanee location on March 8.

“For Goodwill to continue to serve the people of Central Illinois, sustainability must always be our first consideration,” said Goodwill President and CEO Don Johnson. “We are here to offer free employment, veterans, and youth services to the people in our 21-county territory. To maintain that ability, we must be as strategic as possible.

“With the opening of our new, larger Galesburg  store, we are strengthening our sustainability and thus our ability to serve even more individuals. With this in mind, the decision has been made to close our store in Kewanee.”

All Kewanee store employees will be eligible for rehire at another Goodwill location. These  employees will also qualify for unemployment benefits. All of Goodwill’s free services will still be available to area residents.

Goodwill offers employment services, veterans’ support services, a youth mentoring program, and operates a 15-room veterans’ home. For more information visit www.goodwillpeo.org.
