Bruce Hedbloom, age 74, of Knoxville, Illinois, died at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 22, 1951, in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Leonard and Dorothy Jean (Carlburg) Hedbloom. He attended and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1969, he then attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He graduated in 1973, earning a degree in Plant Industries. He married Norma Simkins on May 25, 1974, at the Knoxville United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Illinois.
Surviving are his wife, Norma Hedbloom of Knoxville, Illinois; Children: Michael (Marisol) Hedbloom of Bettendorf, Iowa, Linley (Andy) Fleisher of Knoxville, Illinois, and Scott (Amber) Hedbloom of Bettendorf, Iowa; six grandchildren: Aubree, Wakelee, Atlee and Brodee, of Bettendorf, Iowa; Bryar and Emersyn Fleisher of Knoxville, Illinois; three sisters: Sharyn (Margaret Frimoth) Hedbloom of Astoria, Oregon, Jan (Rich) King-Woods of Knoxville, Illinois, and Lynne (Arnie) Otness of Seaside, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He worked as a building contractor most of his life. He was well known as an elite home builder, leading to long lasting friendships along the way. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Knoxville, Illinois. He enjoyed building classic cars and hotrods. Bruce also loved to spend time with his family, boating and water skiing.
A memorial visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus or the Brent Ohl Fund (Local Pancreatic Cancer Foundation).
