Candidate Forum featuring D205 School Board candidates is tonight. Here’s how you can attend, listen or watch

Candidates running for District 205 Board of Education in the upcoming Galesburg Consolidated Election will have the opportunity to participate in a public forum on Tuesday, March 4.

The forum will be held in the Community Room of the Galesburg Public Library, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.  It is sponsored by Galesburg Branch 3016 of the NAACP and the Galesburg Public Library.

Candidates will present their qualifications and reasons for running and answer questions on topics solicited from local media and the local Democratic and Republican parties. There also will be time afterwards for the public to meet informally with the candidates.

Heather Norman, general manager of TriStates Public Radio, will be the moderator.  WGIL (93.7 FM and 1400 AM) will broadcast the forum. In addition, WVKC/TriStates Public Radio (90.7 FM) will livestream video of the event on its website, www.tspr.org.

Vying for two positions representing Galesburg Township are current school board members Pamella Bess-Tabb and Rod Scherpe, along with challengers Luan M. Statham, Jaclyn Smith-Esters and Robert “Bo” Irons.

Running for the two positions outside Galesburg Township are current members Tera Boettcher and Maurice Lyon, and challengers Jamie Harter and Benjamin Yeutson. Voters can cast up to two votes for each set of candidates.
