A pair of Galesburg Silver Steaks and two members of the Abingdon-Avon Tornadoes landed on the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association 2024-25 All-State Girls Basketball Teams.
Galesburg sophomore Ella Herchenroder was voted to the Class 3A all-state third-team, while sophomore teammate Jozalyn Kilgore received special-mention recognition. The Streaks finished 24-8, falling in the sectional semifinals to eventual 3rd place state finalist Washington.
Abingdon-Avon sophomore Kennedy Quinn was a first-team all-state selection in Class 1A, while her senior teammate Hailey Redding was voted third-team all-state. The Tornadoes finished the season 30-5, falling in the Elite 8.
Ten players were selected to each of the Class 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A teams, and 15 players made each of the special-mention teams.
All-state team members were selected by IBCA All-State representatives on March 7.

The all-state recognition came after the pair of Streaks landed on the 2024-25 Western Big 6 Girls Basketball All-Conference teams. Herchenroder was named first-team all-conference, while Kilgore was selected to the second team in a vote league coaches.
In conference games, Herchenroder averaged 10 points per game, 3.5 assists per game (2nd in conference), 3.2 steals per game (2nd in conference), a 1.5 assist to turnover ratio (2nd in conference), and 19 3’s made (9th in conference). “Ella and Jozalyn are both deserving of all-conference and all-state,” said Streaks coach Lexi Demott. “As returning varsity players on a team of not much experience it could have been easy for them to find excuses. They each bring different abilities to the team that helped make us successful this season.
“I look forward to continuing to coach both of them and watching them grow again this coming season.”
