The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that work will begin on the bridge carrying U.S. 67 over North Henderson Creek, about 7 miles south of Viola in Mercer County, on March 17.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction and will be directed by temporary traffic signals to complete bridge replacement work. The project is scheduled to be completed by May 2026.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
