Byerly, Mark S.

Mark S. Byerly, age 78, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 12:08 a.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025, at his home in Galesburg, surrounded by his family.

He was born on October 26, 1953, in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Leonard and Vera (Shaw) Byerly. He attended and graduated from Galesburg High School the class of 1971. He married Lorrie J. Hensley on October 16, 1982, at Harmony Baptist Church in Galesburg, Illinois.

He leaves behind his wife, Lorrie of Galesburg, Illinois; two daughters: Amanda (Dan) Cervantez of Galesburg, Illinois and Haley (Caleb) Weaver of Galesburg, Illinois; two grandchildren: Parker and Hazel Cervantez; two French Bull grand dogs, Fiona and Lucky. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Tammy Simkins; and his beloved bull dogs Artie and Duchess.

He was a welder, serving as district manager for Genex and Illini in Galesburg, Illinois and doing various other jobs in the area. He was “Mr. Fix It” around the house and for his daughters. He enjoyed going to the casinos and hot rods.

The family extends their gratitude and heartful thanks to OSF Hospice Staff for their care of Mark over this past year, especially Ruth Ann Brown and Jenny Curtis.

Private graveside services will be held. He will be laid to rest at the Knoxville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to be used at a late date.
