This Spring, Galesburg High School will be looking for its 34th boys basketball coach. This coach will be the 13th coach since John Thiel left in 1973.

1- Geoff Falk’s father, Rich Falk of Galesburg scored 50 points in a Regional game at GHS.
2- 1 year only- he coached 1913 and never again. He claimed he knew nothing about basketball and was just filling in.
3-4- Mike Miller had coached Rockford Guilford to 2nd place finish in 1993, and Ed Sennett had coached Herscher to 3rd place finish in 1982.
5- Ken Menke was All-Big Ten for Illinois’ Big Ten Champs in 1942 and 1943. He coached at GHS from 1950-4.
6/7/8/9/10- Mike Owens, Barry Swanson, Dave Peck, Lexi Demott, Chad Thompson
11- Student
12- Jeff Houston played for Barry Swanson at Carl Sandburg College.

14/15- Ken Menke played for the Ft. Wayne Pistons and the Waterloo Hawks. John Thiel played for the Milwaukee Hawks

17/18/19- Frank Adams coached at GHS for one year then went to Knox as head coach. He was voted “Coach of the Century” for Knox. Dave Peck and Barry Swanson went to Knox as assistant coaches after leaving Galesburg.
20/21- Mike Owens had been assistant coach at Northwestern. Evan Massey was Knox College’s first womens basketball coach in 1973-4.
22- Mike Reynolds at one time had been an assistant coach at UTHS.
23- Ken Menke was a player on the 1938 Dundee team that won the State Championship.
