A variety of flavors from barbecue to Thai fusion and authentic Mexican dishes will be served at the second annual Food Truck Night on May 16 in the Lake Storey Pavilion parking lot.
The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 16, and runs until the food runs out, will feature offerings from five food trucks.
Angie Buchen, recreation supervisor for the City of Galesburg, said this year’s event builds on the success of last year’s inaugural Food Truck Night.
“This is the second year we’ve done the Food Truck Night, and it’s definitely on the smaller scale—not a big event like Taste of Galesburg,” Buchen said. “It’s just something fun to do that brings people outside, where they can enjoy hanging out at Lake Storey Park.”
Five food trucks are confirmed to participate: Smokin’ Willies, Tacos and Thai, Johnson’s Smokehouse, Taqueria Jalisco’s, and Mr. Macho Taco.
Buchen noted that more trucks might join closer to the date. Entry to the event is free, though food prices will vary depending on the vendor.
While the beach won’t be open yet, visitors can take advantage of the park’s playground, disc golf course and hiking trails.
“It’s a great evening to explore the park,” Buchen said.
