One of the country’s fastest-growing restaurant chains is coming to Galesburg.
Once tabbed by Thrillist as “America’s Best Fried Chicken You’ve Never Heard Of,” Krispy Krunchy Chicken expects to open within 30 days at 900 E. Main St., next to Save More grocery store.
Owner Jessie Singh — who also is part owner of Save More — said the restaurant will offer both dine-in and carry-out service. The restaurant will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.

Krispy Krunchy Chicken, founded in 1989 in Lafayette, Louisiana, by Neal Onebane, is a quick-service fried chicken chain known for its Cajun-inspired, hand-breaded, mildly spiced chicken. With over 3,200 locations across 48 U.S. states, plus Malaysia and American Samoa, it operates primarily as a store-in-store concept within convenience stores, gas stations, truck stops, universities, casinos, and retailers like Walmart.
KKC offers bone-in chicken, all-white meat tenders, wings, and a Cajun chicken sandwich, infused with a proprietary marinade and fried in zero-trans-fat oil. Sides include honey butter biscuits, mac-n-cheese, red beans and rice, jambalaya, boudin bites, and fries. Seafood options like honey butter shrimp and fish are available at some locations.
Earlier this spring, KKC was named the Official Fried Chicken of the Boston Red Sox, with its chicken sandwich now being served at Fenway Park.
Krispy Krunchy Chicken has a goal of opening at least 600 locations during 2025.
