HUNTLEY, Ill. (AP) — The Huntley Historical Society is raising money to open a museum showcasing the Illinois’ village’s history.
The Northwest Herald reports the museum would be located inside a historic home that the park district is renovating.
Society president Jim Blasky says it would cost an estimated $50,000 to renovate the 1863 home and open it to the public. He says they’re about halfway to the goal, and more fundraisers are planned.
The home and a historic barn are located on what’s known as the Sun Valley Farm property in Huntley, about 50 miles northwest of Chicago. The village has owned the land since 1999.
Blasky says the historical society has collections of memorabilia it would put on exhibit.
