One transported by LifeFlight in 41 accident, injuries unknown

VIEW UPDATED STORY HERE

A three-vehicle accident took place around 6 p.m. this evening on Route 41 south of Knox County Highway 10, closing Route 41 for almost 2 hours. The road has since reopened.

Abingdon Police Chief Kenneth Jones told WGIL the accident involved a four-door sedan and two pick-up trucks near the Munson Blacktop.

Two victims were transported to OSF St. Mary Medical Center. A third victim was taken to Galesburg Cottage Hospital, then via LifeFlight helicopter.

Jones says one victim was male, one was female and the other’s sex is unknown at this time. Extent of injuries and identities are unknown at this time as well.

Galesburg Hospitals’ Ambulance Service, the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, the Galesburg Police Department, Illinois State Police, Abingdon Police and Abingdon Fire responded to the scene.
