Turner, Betty J.

Betty Jean Turner, 77, of Bushnell, IL passed away at 8:57 PM Saturday March 3, 2018 at McDonough District Hospital. She was born August 29, 1940 in St. Augustine, IL to Donald A. and M. Louise (McDorman) John. She married Rodney P. Turner on May 26, 1962.   They were divorced.

Also surviving are two children, Rodessa (Tim) Switzer of Bushnell, IL; Chadwick (Kelli) Turner of Avon, IL; two grandchildren, Jeron (Kasey McCumber) Heaton of Dewitt, IA; Spencer (Wally Foster) Turner of Avon, IL; three great grandchildren, Liam, Kilian and Mattisun.

Betty graduated from Avon H.S. and beauty school.  She was a hairdresser for over 25 years and then attended Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, IL, graduating with an associate’s degree in Nursing.  She worked most of her professional nursing career at LaHarpe Davier Nursing Home in LaHarpe, IL.  Due to an accident at work, she was forced to retire from nursing approximately 18 years ago.  Over the past year she battled breast cancer and won.

Betty loved her family and spending time with them whenever possible.  She was a dedicated and great mother and grandmother.  She was an avid fan of the NBA and lover of politics.  Her hobbies consisted of building and interior design of doll houses, playing games on her kindle and gardening.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday March 7, 2018 at the Babbitt Cemetery, St. Augustine, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM Wednesday March 7, 2018 at the Corman Memorial Home of Avon. Pastor Jim Eddy will officiate.
