Wednesday, November 18th, Galesburg Police were dispatched to Walmart in Galesburg for retail theft in progress. Upon arrival, according to police reports, officers met with the store’s Asset Protection Employee who told police the suspect took off on foot after being contacted by store officials. The suspect: 41-year old Michelle Adkisson of Galesburg was then located laying in a ditch in front of Pizza Ranch. Adkisson told officers she has COVID-19 and was taken to Cottage Hospital. Back at Walmart, store employees told officers that Adkisson filled a cart with items and attempted to leave with them. When stopped by Walmart staff, she took off running. The total dollar amount of items was over $450.
