VNA Community Services of Knox County has only been able to open its doors for 15 total days since March 2020.
But that’s changing on Monday.
VNA Staff and volunteers were still working tirelessly to support area seniors throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, serving well over 90,000 individual meals to the Knox County area with the help of community partnerships, and maintaining a majority of their programming.
VNA’s Exexcutive Director Michael John Bennett says it’s exciting to be “so close to being open again” but says they “still want to be as cautious as necessary to ensure that we can remain open.”
The VNA re-opening on Monday will also be restarting two favorite programs, Congregate Meals and The New Age New Image Fitness Center.
Congregate hot meals for residents 60 and older will be available again, but they ask you to call at least a day in advance to reserve a plate.
The Fitness Center is also open from 8 am-4 pm Mon-Fri and is going to be completely free until April 25th, 2023, to anyone 60+ with a note from their doctor and their signature on the liability waiver.
