Galesburg woman arrested after replacing barcodes on items at Walmart

Galesburg Police back on Sunday, October 9th responded to Walmart for a re-occurring shoplifting scam. Employees met with officers and reported a female subject was replacing bar codes on items – scamming the store. Police reviewed security footage of the 55-year-old Galesburg woman covering barcodes and scanning items at the self-checkout. The barcodes that the woman placed on items all rang up for only 32 cents. The total retail value of all the merchandise was just over $114. The woman was placed under arrest and transported to the Knox County Jail. She was charged with retail theft – first offense.
