The Board of Trustees at Carl Sandburg College last month adopted the 2022 Property Tax Levy.
The levy is for $13,369,775 and is based on a projected equalized assessed value of $2,195,440,658, an increase of 2.5 percent from last year.
The levy is an increase of $467,127 from last year and will result in a tax rate of $0.61 per $100 of assessed value – a decrease from last year.
Trustees for the community college also approved an energy efficiency project for the Fitness Center at the community college’s main campus.
The project will pull from the Protection, Health, and Safety funds to repair the roof of the center, upgrade the rooftop HVAC units, and install a retrofit insulation system.
Energy loss is expected to be reduced to the Fitness Center, aerobics studio, and gymnasium by as much as 40 percent.
The work will cost the college $274,430 and is expected to begin over the summer and be completed in the fall.
