More coffee is brewing on the east side of Galesburg. Dame Fine Coffee officially opened in its new building on Friday at the corner East Main Street and Illinois Avenue.
With the opening of the 1770 E. Main St. store, Dame Fine will no longer serve from the temporary trailer it has occupied the last year at the site of a former carwash on North Henderson Street
Dillan Vancil, owner of Dame Fine Coffee, tells WGIL, “We were delayed a couple months, but it’s worth the wait. We’re excited to be in our new building.”
Dame Fine Coffee has another store in Monmouth and will open a third location in Burlington, Iowa, in April.
Vancil said the new Galesburg store is the largest location and will feature new “top of the line” equipment to help with efficiency. The East Main Street store will get a paved concrete surface when the weather warms later this spring.
Plans for a permanent Dame Fine Coffee at the 1819 N. Henderson St. location are on hold, according to Vancil.
Vancil is looking forward to serving customers in another part of Galesburg.
“The trailer served its purpose, but we’re happy to be in a permanent building on East Main,” he said. “We have people who will follow us anywhere we go. But I feel we’ll attract some new customers on this side of town.”
Dame Fine Coffee is open 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday; and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
