Early Monday afternoon, Galesburg Police were dispatched to the area of Curley Drive and North Lake Storey Road for a report of damage to property in progress. The Galesburg area received about two inches of rain on Monday, and the City soccer fields at Lake Storey had standing water in them. The caller advised police that a green Toyota sedan was doing donuts in the soccer fields and had gotten stuck in the mud. Before police could arrive, another driver in a pick-up truck pulled the sedan out and it had departed the area. Police located the driver of the truck who said he did not know the “kid” that he pulled out of the mud. On Tuesday, police observed a green Toyota sedan on Lincoln Street completely covered in mud. The 24-year-old male driver was receiving a citation for going 60 miles per hour in a 30-mile-per-hour zone. The man admitted to driving on the soccer fields. He was taken into custody and transported to the Knox County Jail charged with Damage to Property.
