Galesburg Police shortly after 11:00 pm on Saturday received numerous calls regarding gunshots in the area of the 400 block of Soangetaha Road. A woman told police she heard 5-6 gunshots behind her apartment building in the area. Police made contact with a 15-year-old boy who said he was visiting a friend in the area and they had made arrangements to purchase cannabis. The boy said that the male subject whom he was buying cannabis from took his money and then shot at him. He then ran to Best Western. The boy would not tell the name of the friend he was with but did give officers the name of the male subject he was buying cannabis from – saying he was a 9th grader – and the same age as him. Officers could not find the name they were given in any database. Police located 7 9mm shell casings in the area. The boy suffered a laceration to his head – but officers could not locate any damage due to gunfire. The boy would not provide officers with any other information and refused to complete a written statement. The incident remains under investigation.
