Maxine was born February 9, 1936, in rural Williamsfield, Illinois to Charles and Florence (Gamel) Coleman. She graduated from ROVA High School where she met her husband, Leslie Goff. They were united in marriage on July 1, 1956, in Victoria, Illinois. They had three sons, Larry, Chuck, and Doug.

Maxine helped Les on their family farm in Woodhull until they retired. Many times, she could be found in the field helping out where needed or providing meals for those working. She also loved to bake and always kept chocolate chip cookies on hand for any visitors. She made delicious pies and enjoyed teaching her granddaughters how to bake as they were growing up.

Maxine had a beautiful singing voice and sang at numerous weddings and funerals. She was a lifetime choir member at the United Church of Woodhull where she provided special music on many occasions by singing solos during worship service.

Most of all, Maxine loved her family. She attended all her boys’ events and later her grandchildren’s. From sporting events to livestock shows, she was always there to support her family. She also enjoyed having her family together for meals, coffee, or just to visit.

She was a member of the United Church of Woodhull, The Presbyterian Women’s Assoc., PEO, and the Women’s Auxiliary.

She is survived by her sons: Larry (Karen) Goff and Chuck (Sally) Goff of Woodhull IL, Doug (Sharon) Goff of Hopedale IL; six grandchildren: Christopher (Sawyer) Goff, Cari (Jason) Main, Austin Goff, Mandy Goff, Coleman Goff, and Carson Goff; she also has seven great-grandchildren that she loved spending time with; and brother-in-law Russell Josephson.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Leslie, sister Mildred Josephson, sister-in-law Virginia Sutter, and brother-in-law Wayne Sutter.

Maxine will be truly missed! The family would like to thank all the staff at Hawthorne Inn of Galesburg and Compassus Hospice for their loving care and support of Maxine during her time there.
