Mrs. Patricia A. Coombs, 75, of Galesburg, passed away at 4:16 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
Patricia was born March 23, 1948, in Peoria, the daughter of Ted and Betty (Cikanek) Coombs. She first married Charlie Halsey and later married Emery Mackey on Aug. 8, 1992. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Patricia is survived by her children, Timothy Michael (Erin) Halsey of Keithsburg, Illinois and Valarie Michele (John) Curry of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; three grandchildren, Marissa (John Clem) Halsey of Biggsville, Tyler Halsey of Iowa City, Iowa, and Alex Kistler of Malaysia; four brothers, Ted Coombs of Gilson, John Coombs and Jesse Coombs both of Indiana, Gary Olson of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Emery, one daughter, Cheryl Halsey, four brothers, Raymond, Clyde and Jim Coombs and David Olson and two sisters, Debbie Dieu and Beth Erickson.
Patricia worked for Admiral/ Maytag Corporation for twelve years and Derby Industries for five years. She was also a certified nurse’s aide and worked for in-home care for two years. She was a former member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church. In her early years she lived in California and was often referred to as the “California Girl”. She loved to swim, listen to music and drive around with her husband in their Roadrunner.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Darrell Grimm will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. The burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Childrens Hospital.
