Galesburg City Council approved several pieces of business on Monday in Eric Hanson’s first meeting as City Manager.
The Council, which at times has shown bitter disagreement in the past year, voted unanimously on every item.
Aldermen on Monday night approved various financial incentives for Smokin Willie’s BBQ to renovate the former Moose Lodge.
Ken Springer with the Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development says the total project cost is $296,000.
Council approved funds from the Revolving Loan Fund, the Facade Grant program and Tax Increment Financing.
Ward 7 Alderman Steve Cheesman says this is an “exciting thing that the Council gets to be a part of.”
Aldermen also approved preauthorization of 16 police pursuit vehicles in 2025, although the council will have to approve those bids later.
The amount authorized would be about $52,000 per vehicle.
Council also approved a bridge replacement for a Hole 15 at Bunker Links Golf Course on a unanimous vote.
Hanson says the project came in a little over budget but additional funds were made available by the Galesburg Rotary Club.
