State and Federal authorities were in Fulton County Monday assessing the damage and the efforts at recovery following the derecho of mid-July.

That’s according to the Fulton County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency, who says more than 160 homes were assessed, and reports are being compiled.

The agency says while your home may not have been assessed, that doesn’t mean it’s not eligible for damage assistance.  The assessment was a sampling of homes in Canton, Cuba, and Lewistown.

The county is part of a larger statewide application for assistance following the mid-July storms.

It’s expected, agency officials say, that state will compile the data and send it to FEMA.

It’s believed that Fulton County was one of the first in the state to submit data in the early stages following the storm.
