Municipal election season in Illinois is officially underway for races to be decided on April 1, 2025.
Candidates running for office like Galesburg Mayor, City Clerk and Council seats in Wards 2, 4 and 6 can pick up their nominating paperwork starting today.
Already Galesburg Mayor Peter Schwartzman has announced that he intended to run for another term. No other candidates have publicly stated their intention to run for Mayor or Alderman.
Galesburg Board of Elections Executive Director Lisa Watson says the Board of Commissioners approved the signature calculations and nomination paperwork at Monday’s meeting.
Candidates interested in running for municipal office in Galesburg can go to the Election Office in City Hall at 55 West Tompkins Street.
Paperwork can be submitted November 12-18, 2024.
