A Havana man will continue to be jailed in Galesburg after he allegedly tried to have sex with a minor.
Court records indicate a judge has ordered the continued detention of Kevin Cooper, 32, now formally facing charges of Grooming, Soliciting To Meet a Child, Traveling to Meet a Minor, and two different counts of Indecent Solicitation.
Knox County Sheriffs Deputies were able to arrest Cooper as he was going to pick up a 15-year-old, take that person to a hotel, have sex, and provide the child marijuana.
Officials say Cooper and the minor were talking for some time prior to Tuesday.
A judge determined under the Pretrial Fairness Act that there was clear and convincing evidence for Cooper to remain held in the Knox County Jail.
He now has a preliminary hearing scheduled for October 23rd.
