James F. Beaty, 67, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 2:56 a.m. Sunday, October 6, 2024 at home.
Jim was born July 21, 1957 in Beardstown, Illinois, the son of Patricia Ann (Heller) and Harold Beaty. He worked at Lacky Monument in Galesburg for several years, prior to moving to Florida. Whiling living in Florida, he worked for DeLaCruz Construction. He later returned to Galesburg and worked at Derby Supply Chain Solutions until his retirement.
He is survived by one brother, Dough (Betty) Beaty of Galesburg; four sisters, Marjorie Beaty of Galesburg; Leona (Rick) Grappe of Victoria, Illinois, Carol Beaty of Niagra Falls, New York, and Sandy (Mike) Nelson of Galesburg; along with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Including his parents, he is preceded in death by six brothers, Denny Heller, Paul, Charles, Bill, Hank, and Gerald Beaty; and one sister, Patti Beaty.
An avid sports fan, Jim enjoyed rooting on the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears. He also played and coached in the city softball league for many years.
Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the Thomas Legacy Center at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
