Abingdon-Avon implements Full-Service Community Schools strategy

Full-Service Community Schools, an exciting new strategy aimed to ensure students receive the best possible education with limited barriers, is coming to Abingdon-Avon schools.

Community schools are public schools that partner with families and community organizations to provide well-rounded educational opportunities and support for students’ school success.

The idea behind a Full-Service Community School is to connect the pipelines to ensure students receive the best possible education with limited barriers. Every Full-Service Community School is unique just like the community its being implemented in.

The Full-Service Community School Strategy has awarded $500,000 per school, per year for five years to Abingdon-Avon Middle and High School.

Regional Office of Education 33 Director of Services Kathryn Jennings, Abingdon-Avon Superintendent of Schools Bill Walters, and Abingdon-Avon coordinators Stephanie McMillan and Heather Allen joined WGIL's Tyler Gumm and Jay Redfern to talk about the program.
