The Galesburg High School girls basketball team continued to struggle with their shooting when they faced United Township at John Thiel Gym Saturday afternoon. With only 30% of their shots made, the Silver Streaks lost to the Panthers, 55-42. It's the third loss in a row for the Streaks, who are now 20 - 5 on the season and 8 - 3 in Western Big 6 conference games.
Galesburg generated 19 turnovers and out rebounded United Township in the game, but then couldn't convert those defensive efforts into points. The Silver Streaks were 15 of 37 from inside the arc, and just 2 of 19 from 3-point range.
The Dave's Auto Body Crunch-Time Player of the Game was senior Kiarra Kilgore who finished the game with 25 points, the only Streaks' player to score double digits. She also contributed 10 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists.
Next up for the Galesburg girls, they will host Normal West in a non-conference game at John Thiel Gym Monday (1/29) evening. Pregame coverage with Tom Meredith and Erik Gibson will begin at about 6:40 Monday night on 93.7 FM and 1400 AM WGIL and wgil.com.
