Galesburg Girls Basketball Team Suffers 2nd Conference Loss

The Galesburg girls basketball team suffered from a tough shooting night at Quincy Thursday night and lost to the Blue Devils, 62-43.  The Silver Streaks were outscored in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, 15-10 and 18-10, and even though they made a scoring run in the 4th quarter, the deficit was just too much to overcome. Galesburg is now 20-4 on the season and 8-2 in the Western Big 6. They are now tied with the Blue Devils for 2nd place in the conference.

The Silver Streaks' Kiarra Kilgore finished the night with 21 points. Alexis Edgerson scored 9 points, Syriah Boyd had 6, Jozalyn Kilgore scored 3, and Antonia Kisler finished with 2 points.

Despite being triple-teamed at times, Kiarra Kilgore led the way for Galesburg. She had 4 assists in the game, 3 rebounds, a steal and a block, along with scoring 21 points, and was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch-Time Player of the Game.

Next up for the Galesburg girls, they will host the 1st place team in the Western Big 6, United Township, at John Thiel Gym on Saturday (1/27) afternoon. Pregame coverage with Tom Meredith and Erik Gibson will begin at about 1:10 Saturday afternoon on 93.7 FM and 1400 AM WGIL and wgil.com.
