Saturday night at Morton High School's Potterdome, it was a battle of state ranked Class 3A teams. The Galesburg girls basketball team came into the game ranked 3rd while the Morton Lady Potters were ranked 6th. In a very physical game, the Silver Streaks suffered from 17 turnovers and 0 for 9 shooting from 3-point range in a 46 -33 loss to Morton.
Senior Kiarra Kilgore led the way for Galesburg with 18 points, 4 steals, 2 assists, and 3 rebounds and was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch-Time Player of the Game. In the 1st half, Kiarra kept the Streaks in the game, scoring 12 of their 18 points going into halftime.
Other stats for the Galesburg girls, Alexis Edgerson scored 8 points and had a rebound. Antonia Kisler finished the game with 4 points, an assist, a steal, and 4 rebounds. Taylor Herchenroder scored 2 points and had a steal, while Syriah Boyd scored a point along with an assist and 3 rebounds.
In the early game, the Galesburg sophomores also lost to Morton, 43 - 36.
