An offensive explosion occurred in the season finale at Van Dyke Field Friday night, as Galesburg and United Township of East Moline combined for 16 touchdowns and 827 yards rushing. After a Panthers punt on the opening drive, senior Amarie Richardson took the opening hand-off for the Streaks 90 yards for a touchdown. The Panthers answered as sophomore Isaiah Navarrete scored from 5 yards out to tie the game at 7 after one quarter. Both teams found the end zone three times in the second quarter as UT held a 28-27 lead at the break. The Panthers pulled away in the second half on a trio of quarterback Matthew Kelley touchdowns, as well as three more touchdowns from Navarrete for a 63-46 win.
Galesburg(2-7) totaled 404 rushing yards on the night, lead by Amarie Richardson's career high 270 yards and 3 touchdowns. Senior Gino Williams added 56 yards on 11 carries and 4 touchdowns, with one coming thru the air from 26 yards out to senior Adrian Phillips. East Moline(4-5) finished with 423 yards rushing, led by Kelley who finished with 238 yards on 15 carries and 3 touchdowns. Navarrete added 122 yards and 4 touchdowns.
The Dave's Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game was Adrian Phillips for his 26 yard touchdown grab. Galesburg finishes the season at 2-7.
