Tuesday night, the Galesburg Silver Streaks boys basketball team put themselves in the win column in the Western Big 6 Conference for the first time this season with a 58-46 win over Geneseo, who fell to 0-16 on the season. The Streaks out-scored the Maple Leafs in each quarter, including a 13-0 run in the 4th quarter which clinched the victory. With that win on the road, the Galesburg boys improve to 6-13 on the season and 1-5 in the conference.
It was truly a team effort for the Silver Streaks who shot 24 of 46 from the field, 3 of 13 from beyond the arc, and 5 of 8 free throws. The team had 28 rebounds, 15 assists and just 7 turnovers. Galesburg was led in scoring by Jaxon Wyatt with 22 points, Jackson Crock Sibbing with 15 points, Cesaire Bile scored 7 points in his first varsity start, and Keigen Crummer and Leslie Kelley both scored 4 points. Leslie also had 6 assists and Keigen had 4 assists along with 4 steals.
With aggressive determination, Jaxon Wyatt scored a career high 22 points, along with 9 rebounds, and was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game for the Silver Streaks.
