The Silver Streaks traveled to Trafalgar, Indiana for a non conference match-up against the Indian Creek Braves on Saturday afternoon. Galesburg(1-2) fell to the Braves(2-2) 35-14. The Streaks had to scramble to find an opponent for week 3 due to the Alleman Pioneers not fielding a varsity football team this year.
The Braves struck first, marching 80 yards after taking the opening kickoff, capped off by quarterback Jalen Sauer's 10 yard scamper. The Streaks trailed 14-0 at halftime, finally getting on the board in the 3rd quarter on Kenny Ward's 23 yard fumble return for a touchdown. Sauer led the way for the Braves rushing for 123 yards on 8 carries, including a 80 yard touchdown run. He also threw 2 touchdown passes in the game. Gino Williams led the way for the Streaks completing 11 of 21 passes for 104 yards to go along with 39 yards rushing and a touchdown. Jamar Range led the rushing attack with 57 yards on 5 carries. Amarie Richardson hauled in 6 catches for Galesburg.
The Dave's Autobody Player of the Game was junior Kenny Ward for his 23 yard fumble return for a touchdown. The Streaks travel to Sterling for their conference opener next Friday(9-15-2023).
