The Galesburg Silver Streaks returned home to Van Dyke Field Friday night in a conference battle with the Rock Island Rocks. The Streaks forced a three and out on the Rocks opening drive of the game, and tackled the punter on the Rocks 5 yard line. The Streaks took advantage as Amarie Richardson plunged in for a 2 yard score just 4:02 in to the game. The Rocks tied the game at 7, a few drives later as Rock Island quarterback Jav'eion Clark-Pugh connected with Elijah Venegas on a 32 yard touchdown pass. Galesburg took the lead for good on the first drive of the second half as Amarie Richardson found pay dirt again, this time from 36 yards out. The Streaks would add another touchdown and a field goal for a 24-7 victory.
Senior Amarie Richardson led the Galesburg(2-5) offense with 28 carries for 207 yards and 3 touchdowns. Galesburg started in Rock Island(1-6) territory 6 times on the night. Senior Jamari Mcdonald had an interception and a blocked punt for the Streaks. Senior Gino Williams added his 6th interception of the season. Galesburg's win was the first vs the Rocks since 2014.
The Dave's Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game was sophomore Alfred Ayala. The Streaks return to action next Friday night at Moline.
