Friday night, the Galesburg High School boys basketball team traveled to Rock Island to take on the #9 ranked Rocks at the Rock Garden. There was no upset, but the final score is not indicative of how well the Silver Streaks played and how much they battled Rock Island through 2-1/2 quarters. The Streaks kept it close through the first half, only trailing the Rocks by 4 points going into halftime. Midway through the 3rd quarter, Galesburg pulled within 2 points, but then Rock Island went on a 19-4 run and never looked back.  The Rocks handed the Streaks their 6th loss in Western Big 6 Conference play, 73-50. Galesburg is now 8-16 on the season, and 2-6 in the conference.

The Silver Streaks shot 22 of 49 from the field, 3 of 12 3-pointers, and a perfect 3 of 3 from the free throw line. Galesburg pulled down  31 rebounds, had 13 assists and 18 turnovers in the game.

Ethan Oxley was named The Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game, scoring a career-high 15-points. He had the biggest impact in leading the Streaks and helping to keep the game close heading into halftime. Ethan scored timely baskets when the Streaks really needed them to keep the momentum going in the first half.
