Friday night at John Thiel Gym, the Galesburg boys basketball team got the win over Geneseo on Senior Night, 64 - 29. The Silver Streaks are now 9 - 21 on the season and 3 - 10 in the Western Big 6. The Streaks will wrap up the regular season Tuesday night on the road when they take on Rock Island Alleman. Then Galesburg will host Geneseo yet again on Monday, February 24, at John Thiel Gym for the Regional play-in game to start the postseason.
Galesburg shot 26 of 60 from the field, 8 of 24 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 4 of 4 from the free throw line. The Streaks dominated the boards with 47 rebounds, had 11 assists and 11 turnovers. The only Galesburg player in double figures was Cesaire Bile who scored 23, Rahkim McCellan and Jackson Crock Sibbing both came off the bench and scored 8 points, Keigen Crummer finished with 7 points, Eden Mayala scored 4 points, including a one-handed hammer dunk, and senior Kellan Oxley finished with 3 points, scoring the first points in the game on Senior Night from beyond the arc.
Freshman Cesaire Bile scored a career-high 23 points and earned the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game award. He played at a higher level, scoring in every quarter of the game and grabbing 9 rebounds and getting a couple of blocks along the way. He also got the crowd on their feet with a couple of big dunks in the game.
