The Galesburg boys basketball team is still in search of their first Western Big 6 Conference win this season after falling to the Sterling Golden Warriors on Friday (1/10) night, 58 - 41. The Streaks are now 5-13 on the season and 0-5 in conference play.
Sterling led the entire game after scoring the first 6 points. The Streaks came back in the 2nd quarter with several opportunities to tie the game or take the lead, but just couldn't out-pace the Golden Warriors, despite their poor shooting in the 1st half. Sterling was only 6 of 26 in the first half. But despite only being down 3 points at the half, Galesburg came out in the 3rd quarter shooting only 2 of 15 while Sterling went on a 10 - 3 run and never looked back. It ended up a 17-point loss for the Streaks that felt like a major lost opportunity.
Jaxon Wyatt was the clear-cut choice for the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game for the Silver Streaks. Jaxon finished with 16 points, including a couple of 3-pointers, 8 rebounds, and a solid defensive effort. When things were going the best for the Streaks in the game tonight, it seemed to be because Jaxon was involved.
