The Galesburg Silver Streaks boys basketball team led most of the way in their final game at the Taylorville Holiday Tournament but lost in the closing minutes to the tournament hosts, Taylorville Tornadoes, 46 - 40. The Streaks finished the tournament 1-3 and are now 5 - 11 overall on the season.
Despite strong rebounding and holding Taylorville to only 7 shots in the 4th quarter, Galesburg saw the game slipping away as they went cold in their shooting in the 2nd half, going 6 of 25 and 0 for 7 at the free throw line. The Streaks also suffered several offensive fouls in the closing minutes and ended up with 21 turnovers in the game overall. But Galesburg dominated the boards with 39 rebounds in the game.
Leslie Kelley led the Silver Streaks in scoring with 10, Jaxon Wyatt scored 9 points, and Ethan Oxley finished with 8 points and had 10 rebounds.
Jaxon Wyatt was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game for his stellar start for the Silver Streaks going 4 for 6 in the 1st half and leading the team in rebounding with 11 in the game.
